Vineyard tours and tastings

Visit a vineyard all year round

Sussex wine isn’t just winning fans in the UK, it’s rapidly gaining a worldwide reputation. The county has pretty much been the go-to for British sparking wine for a while, but the region’s still whites and reds are now more than holding their own on the global stage. Many vineyards across the county offer tours and tastings and, with lovely built-in walks and many offering good food into the bargain, it’s a great way to spend a day away from the hurly-burly.

Most Sussex vineyards offer tours and tastings year-round, though some do close to visitors in the colder winter months. Find a vineyard here and then check individual websites for dates and times of tours and events.

Hornbeams

A characteristic broad-leaved tree of Sussex woodlands, the Hornbeam is recognised by its smooth, sinuous trunk and furrowed leaves. Long ago its exceptionally hard wood was used in the Weald to make charcoal for iron smelting.
