Hop-on-hop-off art bus linking Towner Eastbourne, Charleston and Seven Sisters Country Park.
The Sussex Art Shuttle is a new hop-on-hop-off minibus running every weekend from 15 September 2023 between Towner Eastbourne, Charleston, Seven Sisters Country Park and Charleston’s new arts space in central Lewes.
The arty new bus service, operated by Cuckmere Buses, sets off four times a day (Fri – Sun) and links up three major Sussex arts venues via a spectacular route that takes in the iconic Seven Sisters cliffs, Cuckmere Valley and the picturesque villages of Alfriston and Litlington, where guests can hop off to enjoy a range of food, drink and independent shops. The Star at Alfriston, the Long Man Brewery, Cadence Cycle Club, Rathfinny Wine Estate and spectacular South Downs beauty spots are all accessible along the way, bringing the full Sussex experience to life and allowing visitors to Eastbourne to easily explore the wider region in a day or two.
Where does the bus stop?
The bus stops at Towner Eastbourne, East Dean, Seven Sisters Visitor Centre, Litlington, Alfriston, Charleston in Firle and Charleston in Lewes. It operates on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, running four times a day. A hop-on-hop-off day ticket costs £2.50.

Turner Prize 2023 season in Sussex
Turner Prize 2023 opens at Towner Eastbourne on 28 September, featuring the works of the four shortlisted artists – Jesse Darling, Ghislaine Leung, Rory Pilgrim and Barbara Walker. At the same time, nearby Charleston – the former country home of Bloomsbury artists Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell – presents ‘David Hockney: Love Life’, featuring rarely-seen early drawings by one of the most popular and recognisable artists of our time. September 2023 also sees Charleston launch a brand new location in central Lewes, with a major exhibition exploring the fashion of the Bloomsbury group.
About the Sussex Art Shuttle
The Sussex Art Shuttle is a joint pilot venture between Towner Eastbourne, Charleston and South Downs National Park. It is operated by Cuckmere Buses. A hop-on-hop-off day ticket costs £2.50. The bus runs four times a day from Towner Eastbourne (College Road), departing at 10.00, 12.00, 14.00 and 16.00 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. A round trip takes two hours. The bus service number is 39.
